The Nokia E63 is not a phone made for the general public. Rather Nokia have decided to target it toward the business market, in a bid to push Blackberry’s dominance down a few notches. It measures 113 x 59 x 13 mm and weighs a hefty 126 grams. So this is not a phone you would simply slip into your back pocket and forget about it, as it is fairly large and heavy. There is a large 2.3 inch screen, beneath of which you will find a few shortcut keys such as Home, Calendar, Email and Contacts. There is also a navigational pad to make moving around the interface fast and intuitive. Beneath these short cut keys you will find a full QWERTY keyboard, which is very necessary for a business phone as the main use is not typing sms’s, but rather typing emails.
Although this is a business phone, Nokia recognise that they do need to provide a camera and a music player. The camera has 2 mega pixels, an LED Flash and 4 times digital zoom. Some advanced camera features include colour tone mode, scene mode and white balancing mode. Don’t expect to take the best pictures with this camera, but they will be clear and printable.
The music player supports the popular formats such as MP3, MP4, AAC and AAC+, and also has an FM Radio. Nokia have also ensured that the Nokia E63 supports Nokia Music Manager and Nokia Podcasting. Internal memory is set at 110 mega bytes, and by adding a MicroSD card this can be increased further.
Application-wise the Nokia E63 is packed. Most of the functions are, as one would expect, business focussed, and include a PDF Viewer, zip manager, and images with contacts (clever). Internet connection is super fast and can be accessed by using 3G HSDPA, wifi, Bluetooth, GPRS or EDGE.
In summary, the Nokia E63 is a business phone through and through.
